We hope everyone is doing well.

Last edition I was asking where did the summer go? This edition I am asking where did 2022 go??

There just never seems to be enough time in the days or days in the year to get everything accomplished that you were hoping to.

From an investment strategy standpoint, we are still suggesting a dollar cost averaging strategy. The start of 2023 has shown some strong gains in the main indexes but still some caution in the near term waiting for the Federal Open Market Committee’s decision on interest rate hikes. We do feel we are getting close to the point where the Central Bank’s will be able to reduce the rate of hikes, frequency of the hikes and possibly sometime in late 2023 look at reducing rates. We feel fairly confident in them by looking at current yields. GIC’s are showing an inverted yield curve. 1-year rates are higher than 5-year rates. Source: Cannex Rates January 12, 2023.

Last edition we wished Candice a fond farewell and all the best in her future endeavors. This edition we are pleased to announce that Jamie Howard has joined our BTR Financial Planning Team and has moved up the learning curve at a very quick pace.

Take care,
BTR Financial Planning Team – Bryan, Preston, Shannon & Jamie.
